Here's What We've Been Up To Lately

Things are going well. The weather has been unusually warm this winter; we've had very little snow so far. I think we've had a couple of dustings of snow and that's it. Unfortunately, it's still been too cold out to be able to go anywhere and take any pictures. As the weather warms up, Cindy and I are going to begin to get away for some weekend trips. We have so much fun together.

Mom is having a tough time due to Bob's passing. She is starting to get out of the house more often; she'll run down the street and have lunch 3-4 days a week now. Please remember her in your prayers.

Our Thursday night Bible study, in West Salem is going great. We consistantly have between 8-9 people attend. We are using some of Dr. Charles Stanley's Bible studies. They have been quite thought provoking.

Unfortunately we have some bad news, Bob passed away in our home on January 5th, 2012. He suffered with COPD for quite a long time; he's not suffering any more because he's at home with the Lord.

We really need to commend all of the women and men that work and volunteer with Hospice. They were invaluable during this difficult time. They took extremely good care of Bob; while giving support to my Mom also. We couldn't have done it without them.

Cindy and I had a great afternoon with Toby and Mia on December 16th.   We first went to Evansville, IN to have the car serviced.   Then we were off to Red Robin, a gourmet burger joint, for a late lunch/early dinner.   From there, we drove about an hour to Santa Claus, IN.   It was already dark when we arrived; we went straight to Lake Rudolph Campground.   Each year they have the Land of Lights display throughout the campground; of course, it tells the story of Rudolph the Red-nose Reindeer.   The kids sat on Cindy's knee, in the front seat, while we slowly drove through the campground.   What a wonderful light display.   The grandkids loved it.   As we were leaving, the campgrounds was handing out coupons for a free 5 x 7 photo with Rudolph, to be taken at the Santa Claus Christmas store.   We got there at a great time, we only waited in line about half an hour.   Toby and Mia sat on Rudolph's lap for the picture.   We also had individual pictures taken of them on Santa's knee (See Below).   We ended the day with a treat from Wendy's.   The ride home takes about 2 1/2 hours; they slept about half way home.   We had to carry them in the house; they were both exhausted.   It's so much fun being able to spend such quality time with them.

We spent a great Saturday morning with Toby and Mia. We took them to New Harmony, Indiana for their Christmas Parade (click on the picture to see the rest of the photos). It's a nice little town with a quaint downtown area. The weather was great, it was in the mid 50's, so it wasn't too cold out. Toby and Mia really seemed to enjoy the parade. We have a local parade; but, they had an opportunity to ride on a float in the Olney Christmas parade; so they were a little bummed that they couldn't actually see the parade. I think the New Harmony parade made up for it. After the parade we came back to Olney and took them to Monical's Pizza for lunch. We came home and they played in the back yard for a while and then we all watched Cars 2. All-in-all it was a pretty good day at the Page household.

The new front door/storm door and all of the windows. It's made quite a difference on the inside of the house. You no longer need to wear additional clothing when you go downstairs.

Up Coming Trips

Western Trip - Cindy and I are trying to plan a trip out west this year. We are hoping to go for two weeks.

Dollywood - (It's going to happen in 2009) - We planning a trip to Pigeon Forge with Toby. We're just waiting for him to get a bit older so he can enjoy the park.

Grant's Farm - (next spring) - Grant's Farm, operated by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., has been a St. Louis tradition for over five decades. More than 24 million guests have visited this popular family attraction during its history.

Weekend Day Trips - Cindy and I haven't been able to take as many weekend day trips as we did for a while. Hopefully we'll be able begin again soon.
